Yang Zongbao is a general in the Beijing Opera. He is wearing a magnificent blue and white silk dragon robe of an emperor embroidered with threads of gold. The robe itself must be constructed of separate layers of material in order to allow the graceful, acrobatic dance movements necessary to perform in the opera. On his head is an elaborate headdress encrusted with faux jewels, pearl and pom-poms. Blue and gold platform boots add stature to his presence. His costume is graceful, elegant and brilliantly designed. Yang Zongbao has four embroidered and tasseled pennants strapped to his back to symbolize that he is ready for the battle.
