Hildegard Gunzel Dolls
Hildegard Günzel’s anniversary collection of Classic Dolls of this year is the best proof: It expresses the special and creative spirit of the artist, dedicated to tradition and craftsmanship and endowed with comprehensive knowledge of the cultural history of the peoples as well as the history of art and textile. It was created with “heart’s blood”, says Hildegard Günzel. The extraordinary, very exclusive Museum Edition in deed is a “donation”. Only issued four times – and each time in a different formation – it contains the core of the artist’s own collection that she, in a way tore from her heart to share with her collectors. A wonderful concept – and proof of her deep connection to the people who love her dolls. These accessories are really gifts to them. Among them are works by Yvonne Flipse, Sabine Esche, Brigitte Deval, Jane Davis, Sylvia Natterer, always one Günzel doll but also old dolls by Schildkröt, one Käthe Kruse doll, one repro Bru and one Steiff teddy. I am particularly glad that the teddy bear from a book that I wrote in 1995 has become part of this exclusive Museum Edition..
